Travel Web Site From the Department of the State is run by the Bureau of Consular Affair. It is by far the most information rich Us government site for travel information both for foreign citizens traveling to the USA and for American Citizens traveling abroad. The Department of the State also issues Travel Warnings (Travel Warnings Web Page). They are issued when the State Department recommends that Americans avoid a certain country. The countries listed below are currently on that list. In addition to this list, the State Department issues information for every country of the world with information on such matters as the health conditions, crime, unusual currency or entry requirements, any areas of instability, and the location of the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate in the subject country.  Also visit the State's Counterterrorism- Travel Safety Page.

The FAA Safety page contains safety advisories & alerts, data and stats and a load of security information.

Also paramount is the http://www.USEmbassy.gov which contain a list of every embassy in every country in the world!

Lastly check out Weather Warnings from NOAA. You can find national warning areas for floods, tornados and more. This is is known as weather.gov
